Okay. For the past two days Leah has been struggling with a fever. At first I thought, no big deal. I'll give her some of her baby Tylenol and she'll be fine! It's only her teething all babies get them. Well after giving her Tylenol for 2 days and see no change at all I start to believe this isn't her teething. She seemed to be eating and drinking okay. No change there? She still gives me them cute little smiles here and there? What can it be? But then again it's not like Leah to stop playing with her toys to come crawling over to mommy and lay down. I knew something was wrong.
I decided to take her temperature once again. After freaking out when it read 101.9. something I thought to myself, that's it I can't take it anymore we are going to the doctor's right now. Her little face looked so out of it. Bryan and I loaded her up and took her into the urgent care right around the corner from the house.
After getting her signed in and waiting in the lobby I thought to myself... Should we be here? Am I just having one of them first time mommy freak outs? Maybe I'm just overreacting? I would hate to drag Leah out just to pick up something else in these kind of places. Because we all know we hate to touch anything in a doctor's office in fear that we'll end up with something else in return.
Ahhh! Finally the nurse calls us back! Now we can try and get to the bottom of all of this. After telling the nurse why my poor little baby has been battling a temperature for the past two days with no improvement at all. She decided to check her temperature once again. But this time it was going to be in the rectum. O nice Leah is going to love this. Surprisingly she did great. All I heard was 103. something... What! OMG that is so high. My poor little baby. She was so tough through it all. I would have never guessed it to be that high.
About 3 minutes later the doctor walks in the door. "Hello what's going on?" after telling the doc what was going on for the past few days he tells us some of the things that it could be and what he has seen in some of his patients in the past few weeks. After taking his ear thingy out and shoving it down Leah's first ear she had decided she no longer wanted any part of him. So daddy and I had to be the bad guys by holding her down for the second ear. He looked her over a little more and then said. "Well that left ear is pretty red, looks like a ear infection." " I am going to go ahead and give her a round of antibiotics. Check with your pediatrician in about 10 days to make sure everything has cleared up."
Ahh! We got a answer! After picking up here medications at the CVS we get home! I get in the door and first things first! Give Leah her medicine. Around ten thirty the fever finally breaks! Yay! I hope it's good from here on out! Next time I'm not going to second guess myself. I am so glad we took her in.
